Without knowing WHAT the subject matter is and WHAT you have said in the body of the essay - that is just simply NOT possible!

The conclusion sums up what you want to say in essence - it is often easier to write this first!

The intro lays out the basics of what you intend to say in the body.

    In an essay

    1) you tell them what you are going to say (the intro)

    2) Then you tell them in detail what you want to say (the body)

    3) then you tell them what you have just told them (the conclusion)

May sound silly, but that's the way it is!

no one can tell you how to write every sentence because we have no clue what you are writing about!

But IN GENERAL you want to introduce your topic in a clever or interesting way. The better writer can veer away from the topic and come back to it. That is a nice trip for the reader, to be shown something they did not know before that is about your topic but they didn't know it. Good writers can do that and still make their point.

Writers with less skill and experience almost have to be more workmanlike and just take us there:

here is what I am writing about

here is why YOU should think it is important

here is where I plan to go with this

That's the job of the first paragraph.

Another technique (used quite often in feature writing in news or magazines) is to save that paragraph for second, but use the first paragraph to launch directly into the most compelling interview, information, or "biggest deal" about the topic. That gets the reader's attention, which is important in journalism where your article is competing with every other article in that same publication.

    EXAMPLE:

"This here was my house, and that was my neighbor's place," said Fred Johmson looking at the debris pile left behind after his town was devastated by last weeks' tornado.

The tornado that hit Smallville on October 6 was as destructive a force as anything this area has ever seen. Lives have been torn apart, faith tested, and those who survived left wondering, "Why me and not them?"

That paragraph would be maybe two or three sentences longer. Notice that some promises were made to the reader: lives torn apart, faith tested, etc. If you don't deliver on those promises by including sections in the essay exploring that then you are nothig but a tease and manipulator. If you want to knw what that feels like read the cover blurbs on just about any mass market magazine on the newsstand, then turn to the article inside and see if it delivers thre goods promised.

This is why it is a good idea to write your intro when you are finishing, so you are accurate in what you are previewing.

Ah, poor you! Nothing worse than long essays for english class!

Well, as you probably already know, your intro is where you introduce your question. This is often done by saying "In this essay I will be debating/studying/comparing". My English teacher hates that. I still use it, but in a different context, and I gt pretty good marks.

    So, add a fact first!

"Did you know that over 2000 goldfish are abused every year, in Australia alone? This essay will compare said fact with that of other countries, and debate ways in which us, as a society, can help prevent this horrific happening."

The conclusion is summing up your essay, making sure you answered your question, and also where you can add a little opinion.

It is just like talking, sweetie. You tell them why you are writing to them. Imagine if you were the one opening the letter, How would you want it introduced. You just don't go MOM I NEED SOME MONEY. You start out with, "Mom, do you remember how you wanted me to get out more and make friends? I have some wonderful new friends at school who are going to have a get-together. People are supposed to go "Dutch." I asked what going "Dutch" means and found out that means taking your own dish. My dish was assigned to me and it is a dessert. Rather than bake it myself I think it would be better (and you could even use the big word "COST-EFFECTIVE") to buy a black forest cake for $12.99. A black forest cake is yellow but with a pudding layer between the halves and then it is coated with melted chocolate. It would be much cheaper to buy it than to make it ourselves.

See how every sentence leads into the next. I do not bring up how my aunt choked on a piece of birthday cake and died when she was 15 on that cake and how birthdays remind you of that tragedy. I do not bring up the Black Forest and how your uncle traveled there 12 years ago. Both of those sentences are off topic and make the reader go "huh"?

    As i was always told...

Intro should include as by sentence -

    1. A summary of the point of the essay

    2. Your first point in summary (what ever your elaborating in first paragraph)

    3. Your second point in summary (what ever your elaborating in second paragraph)

4-? however many paragraphs/points you have

last sentence being a summary again.

As for the conclusion, pretty much the same thing but worded differently. Hope it helps

entirely depends on what your essay is. My best choice would either be a narrative topic sentence and/or a quote/popular saying. Your intro sentence should answer the "what" of the essay, or the message. the conclusion should be the summary of the entire essay.

Start with, "In conclusion..... " followed by an overall summary of the essay. Each sentence following the first should be the major points of each paragraph in your essay.

    INTRODUCTION

The role of this opening paragraph (of about 4-5 sentences in length – one paragraph) is to show the reader that you understand the key terms of the topic and that you have a clear point of view (contention) about the topic (and text).

A contention is the line of argument or the point of view.

While you should never give examples or start elaborating your ideas in your Introduction, sometimes, it is possible to use a relevant quotation from the book to begin your essay (if it seems to you that the quotation encapsulates your own contention)

    _________________________________________

    CONCLUSION

This paragraph draws together each of your main ideas and links them back to your contention (and to the topic of course). Again, this paragraph should be 4-5 sentences in length and it is also possible to finish with a “telling” quotation if you can find one which clearly sums up, or reinforces your point of view.

introduction: piece of writing at the beginning of it, it usually discusses the book in some detail....e.g. theme of your story...its like u want to talk about an object....u have to introduce the details of that particular object....and so on...so on...ie...

For example: Down's Syndrome is a medical condition caused by a abnormal chromosomes, in which a baby is born with subnormal intteligence and develops a flattish face and sloping eyes..(this is the beginning of an essay.) but insead 'Mocking Bird' debate. the summary of the story.... as an introduction, body>>>cover core of the theme.....Conclusion is your point of view, closing paragraph...

    good luck...i hope it helps...

A conclusion paragraph would be a summary of your thoughts at the end of the paper you have written. What are you thoughts of the information you have posted? God Bless ****
