I have Rainbow Six: Vegas for the PS3. My rank has been Private forever. Can you earn points offline?

I have played splitscreen with friends and it shows a score and points for completing missions/hunts. How exactly do I get more rank?

    sorry to tell u but if u dont have live then there is no way u will rank up.
