Have any of you ever replaced the cord of a Venetian blind and lived to tell about it.?

If so would you be willing to direct me to sites or whatever. Be honest if you think I should just toss it and get a new one.

Update:

Thanks for the quick responses! You have confirmed my gut feeling. But you know, it hurts because of my gut also telling me I should be able to fix it. I'll try to look for the #. Thanks again.

Yes, and it is a nightmare. You can call around your area to find companies that clean them and they will do it for a nominal fee and it is well worth paying. Before you do that check in the headrail of the blind. The manufacturer often puts a little card in there that tells who made the blind, when, the make and model. Often they have a lifetime warranty and there is a toll free number to call when they fail. They will send a shipping tag and box, you take them down, ship them off and they will do it for you.

Why do you think Venetian's went blind? Save the old blind---they come in handy when painting trim for using as a paint edger. The cords are pretty good too...nice and strong.

Toss it and get a new one. It is more trouble than it's worth to fix it. Venetian blinds don't cost that much.
