When will Edgar Prado be able to ride again? Will he be riding in any Breeders' Cup races?

Prado broke his ankle after coming in 2nd with Admiral Bird late in the Saratoga Meet. He was supposed to be sidelined for at least six weeks. He now has the cast off and is going to physical therapy.

Jockeys have a way of cutting short their rehab time, especially if there's a big race to ride in. I haven't heard anything about his condition, but if you're telling me that he has his cast off, I'd say that if he is offered a mount for the Breeders, he'll be there. It's still 2 and a half weeks away so he's even got some rehab time. There's no way to know yet if he'll be riding in the Breeders... most trainers will want to stick with the same jockey, but if another jockey has to choose between two or if Edgar has a horse that was his mount before the injury, he might get a mount. I would expect him to be there to ride in at least one if not more races.

Edgar Prado officially retired at Saratoga Meet. He said that Barbaro's triumphant test and his passing, had effected him, go out on top, check out Daily Racing Form for the official announcement/statement. A classy guy acknowledging a great TB./After reading the knmiami answer, I must have been confused. But this I know the jock of Barbaro wrecked at Saratoga, and made an very public retirement. I thought it was Barbaro's jockey. And a famous jock, will be Hall of Fame. Still, look for Curlin' in the Classic. Somewhere.

Edgar does indeed have the cast off, he has been in physical therapy for 3 weeks now. Today is the day he should get his final release from the Doctor and approval to ride.

He has said he hopes to have mounts for the BC, but will NOT accept any UNLESS he is 100%.

    FRIDAY, 6:30... EDGAR'S BACK!
