How does an amateur boxer become professional?
Can any amateur turn professional?? Looking at some pros (i.e. the ones amir khan fights), it don't look too hard to become pro. Do amateurs have to take some sort of test or is there amateur record looked at? How does it work?
You hear of amateur boxers in the local paper saying they have turned pro. What does that mean exactly? Have they just signed some forms to make them professional?

You'll need to pay a fee and pass medical examination with commission to obtain a boxing license. Finding a trainer and/or promoter will be needed to help landed a few fights. Having a good amateur record helps, especially if you're looking for a good promoter and/or trainer.

In order to go pro, you can get your license through the pro boxing commission and submit to a number of test which must be passed. Pros have to take test such as HIV testing, Physicals, etc. While you do not have to have an amateur career to go pro, having an amateur career helps decide on your pay for your pro fights in the beginning since the $ draw is based on recognition. Your recognition is based on your amateur record and/or local and national tournaments won.

You get paid to fight, and that makes you a professional. Just get booked to fight for money. But then you can't go back to amateur status again.

Professional Boxers are paid by managers who manage their careers by obtaining trainers, sparring partners, etc. for them + contracting for fights/ money for them. Some managers also pay a smaller " salary " to their boxers during times when they are not being paid for a fight.

You find a promoter and join a training gym that regularly is invited to scheduled matches. Yes your record is looked at. Go online and look for fight promoters in your area, then contact them. They are always looking for new faces.

What you need is a good trainer and a manager.. They will know if you are pro material... You can not do it on your own, believe me..... Good luck. Grant M in Pennsylvania

this depends on how good you are
if you have a glass jaw then take another line of work
if you can fight and come back when all seems a loss and win
give me your name I'll place a bet on you
