any vet techs out there? my pitbull doesnt like his food plain my husband gave wet cat food is this ok???

No cat food is not ok! Cat food is too high in protein and other nutrients that dogs dont need, and too low in other nutrients that dogs do need.

I know of someone who fed her dog table scraps and cat food.. The dog needed emergency surgury by the age of 3 to remove bladder stones. When the vet asked about her diet, he told the owner that cat food is one of the worse things to feed a dog.

Try another brand of dog food.. many companies will send free samples if you email them. A healthy dog will not starve himself either.

No, it's not okay and could make your dog sick. Cat food is formulated for cats who have different nutritional needs. My girlfriend's dog needed a vet trip because they were allowing him to eat the cat's food. One can isn't going to hurt your dog, but a steady diet of it will.

They do have canned dog food that you can mix with your dog's regular dry dog food. Cat food is not very good for a dog.

This is NOT okay. Cat food is nutritionally balanced for cats, and what your dog needs is something nutritionally balanced for dogs. What kind of food are you feeding him? Cheaper or generic food is not good for your dog, and sometimes they won't accept it if its not good for them. I recommend Purina brand, or higher end. If you already feed something to those specs, try using a little bit of canned dog food with water (just for the smell basically) and see if that gets him going. Then slowly wean him off of the wet to totally dry.

Cat food it to rich for dogs and is not a habit you should allow your husband to continue. If you do not mind what kind of food are you feeding?

Give him his regular dry food. Or maybe change the brand. When is is hungry he will eat. Just don't give cat food. Maybe try to get gravy they sell it at pet stores to put on top of the food then slowly give less.

In the UK you can now buy "sauce" to put on dry dog food. Failing that, just pour over a little meat stock. Why shouldn't dogs be picky????

No- cat food has too much protein. Wet DOG food is not even that good for dogs -- its bad for their teeth. Stop letting your dog be picky, if you don't give him any other options, he'll eat the food you give him.

just soften it a little bit with warm water, thats wut i do 2 my dog. and they also digest it better.
