Question about an indoor dog...?
I have a 5mth old pitbull puppy. He is usually extremely calm and people friendly, but when I try to put him in his kennel in the mornings he gets mad barks and tries to bite at me. I wouldnt put him up but he isnt completely housetrained yet. What do I do?

When he growls at you, scold him. This behavior is not acceptable. Spend some of your free time going in and out of his kennel and making that a positive place. Alot of times people use kennel training for house breaking (at night, when not home etc) but also use it as a diciplinary aid. This isnt right and all it does is cause confusion for the dog. A kennel / crate should be a safe place, and a pup should enjoy the experience of going into his/her kennel to the point where you'll find him happily snoozing in there without demand. When you use it as a diciplinary aid, you're going to run into issues of getting a dog into it bc they think they're in trouble. So, with that said, this might be an issue if you ARE using it to dicipline, if you're not, just spend some time helping him in and out, with cookies and treats and praise everytime he goes in and out without a snarl or a fight. Again, consistancy and patience. But absolultey do not tolerate him biting at you, make sure a firm tap on the nose and a firm 'NO!' are being enforced with behavior like this.

this is going to sound stupid yet get him bathed or groomed first and maximum commonplace (more desirable for you than the canines). this can be a conflict for a pair of weeks. the very reality you've a mixed breed is impressive. maximum mixes are relaxing. you'll favor to both crate practice or corder off an section until eventually the canines has the prospect to be certain out the lavatory rules. ascertain you've a large number of time for the first few weeks and so a lot more desirable staying power. The canines is often very grateful for the interest and regulate a lot swifter. Treats are frequently the wonderful form of reinforcement for trianing. sturdy success!

Is the kennel indoors? When are you putting him in there?
Need more details.
If you are crating him inside- make sure you only crate him when you are not home because that will drive the dog insane knowing you are there. Also, make sure he gets plenty of excercise. Take him on a long walk before you put him in his crate so he is tired and will most likely just sleep the whole time.

He's assotiating the kennel with you leaving...not a good thing. Keep the kennel open for him when you're home and put a treat inside it. When he goes in praise him and play with him. Try to make his kennel a good place to be especially when you're home, soon he'll have no problems being in there.

It takes a while to train a little puppy so my family got a doggy door and every time the dog peed, we'd go push Daisy out the door and clean it up. Not my puppy who finally turned a year old won't even go through a normal door because it got so use to the doggy door. They REALLY help.

Do it anyway. Don't let him decide what the rules are. And if he's being naughty barking and biting, the worst punishment is being ignored. If you make a big deal out of what he is doing, or if you give him what he wants from that tantrum, it will only get worse.

Take his dog bowl (with food in it) and put it inside the crate(if it is not in there) and everything else that he likes so that the only way for him to get it is by going inside the crate.

Give him a treat as a reward for getting in his kennel.

Sounds like a good dog for Michael Vick. You should sell it to some dog fighting organization!!

Put him in the bath room. Its easer to clean. He is telling you he don't like the creat. WOULD YOU? Can you emagine what it would be like to be locked in a small cage all day?
