If you have a motorcycle wreck will the insurance?
When you go to pick up your bike from the Harley Shop, and the cost is more than they thought. Will the insurance back up and pay the extra? Or is it up to me to pay the extra?

If your policy is like my policy, the first thing you pay is the deductible ($500 in my case). Any discrepancy that remains after the deductible minus what the insurance company will pay on the claim might be your problem if the repair shop you chose wasn't on the list of approved shops that your insurance company works with, or your insurance company claims adjuster (the person who went and took a look at the damage and decided what the company would pay) says that the shop made unnecessary repairs or repairs that weren't related to this accident you just had.
A repair shop usually won't let you have your bike back until the repair bill is paid in full to their satisfaction, and they will charge you "storage fees" for every day the bike is waiting there for you to pick it up.
Call your insurance company before signing or paying anything so you get the exact amount you owe straight from them. See if there is an opportunity for negotiation on the final bill by getting the repair shop to go to bat for your claim.
I used to work in a body shop, where I did a lot of the claims work for the shop. It is a safe bet that the shop will try to get every cent they possibly can from the insurance company for a legitimate claim expense. They can document how much the new parts cost, and all of the paint and labor costs so the final amount can be modified.
Good Luck!

Since is sounds like the bike is not "totaled", you should be able to send the invoice to the insurance company and they should pay the difference. I imagine, you have already paid your deductible. The shop most likely will not let you take the bike, unless all dues have been paid.

I would contact the adjuster handling the claim and advise the repairs came in more than the shop originally estimated, the adjuster will have the shop fax over a new invoice and then the adjuster will see if the repairs were part of the accident and justified, if they are they will pay

They should pay for whatever the cost to fix it is unless the repair costs more than the blue book price of the bike.
