What is the limit for catching lobster in California?

I'm sure that it's 7, but my neighbor tells me that you can't have more than 7 in your possession and he says that your freezer at home counts as possession. So if I have 4 in my freezer at home would I be breaking the law if I brought home 7 fresh ones tonight.

According the official site, the daily limit is 7. I am assuming you mean spiny lobsters. Guess you can have as many as you want in your freezer, as long as you only take 7 a day.

Cjenson is an an idiot.  Follow the daily bag limits, they're in place for a reason.  The other guy who answered is correct according to his link, it doesn't matter how many you have in your freezer.

they count the ones you have in your possession,not in your freezer.

I'm from California also, and I'll tell you something. You can take as much as you want...just don't get caught!..now that's the true California way! ahaha

if you dont like my idea though, try bringing your friends..and your kids(if u have any) and their kids. Each take 7 home, now you can have a feast! like that idea?
