Work-out goals/ rewards?

I've recently begun a fairly intense workout routine in an attempt to shed many unwanted pounds. I'm told that a great way to stay motivated is to reward yourself at every goal marker you achieve. My question is, when to reward myself and how?

Update:

Thanks for the reply. I wonder, though, if someone can give me ideas as to how specifically to reward myself (cd's, massages, new clothes, etc).

Well, new clothes are always a reward. I think it depends on what type of clothes are rewarding, such as a sexy black dress, skirt. I think rewards have to be related so clothes maybe the ticket. When? I think that depends on how much you weigh now and how much you want to loose. Maybe every 10 pounds is a good goal.

I would suggest having short and long term goals and rewards. The short term goals/rewards are of course smaller than the long term ones. When you have both you will have a way to monitor your results and get gratification along the way to the big enchilada, lol.
