IP Address Problem?

I have 2 Routers. one with a DSL modem and one that is not. i have a network with computers hooked up to each of the routers. both routers have different IP addresses. the DSL router has a IP address of 192.168.1.1 and the other one has 192.168.0.1. the computers on the 192.168.0.1 network can acess files and printers from the 192.168.1.1 network but the computers on the 192.168.1.1 network cannot sense the 192.168.0.1 computers. what can i do to fix this?

I am assuming that you can ping between both networks, and that you cannot see the microsoft netbios info. If this is so, check each routers config to make sure they are configured to pass netbios info.

If you cannot ping, from one network only, check routes in both routers.

Most likely, your 192.168.0.0 computers are using 192.168.0.1 as their default gateway. The 192.168.0.1 router probably has its own default gateway set to 192.168.1.1. So your computers have a route to the 192.168.1.0 network, but not vise versa. If you can configure a static route on the 192.168.1.1 router to the 192.168.0.0 network via the 192.168.0.1 router, it might work.

Did you configure the DSL router to "learn" the routes to the 192.168.0.1 subnet? I am pretty sure it has to know where that traffic needs to go. Check the configurations on the router and see if there is a way to set this.

Change your IP scheme so they're all on 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1.
