This is a fun one.
1. You can decorate your front yard (ie, front door area) to look like they are entering a haunted house.
2. Play scary music
3. Yucky snacks ( peeled grapes as eyeballs, spaghetti as guts, etc.)
4. Candy candy candy!!
5. You can have the kids make a haunted house themselves with blankets and chairs, just make sure they have adult supervision.
6. If you are anybody is good with makeup, you can decorate everybodys faces with cuts and bruises.
7. bobbing for apples
8. They can make these cute and easy little ghosts. Each kid needs a small square of colored tissue paper, googly eyes, string, and a wad of paper. Place the tissue over the wad of paper and tie the string around it to make a head with a body floating down. Glue on the googly eyes. They can hand the skeleton in their front yard when they get home.
9. They can each make their own skeleton man out of cookie dough. They get to eat it at the end!
10. Make prizes for a best costume, cutest costume, scariest costume, and most original costume.
12. Buy small styrophome balls at a craft store, along with orange and black paint. Make sure you have small paintbrushes and green thumb tacks on hand too. The children can paint the balls orange, decorate a scary face with the black paint, and stick an orange thumbtack on the top. Wala! A pumpkin.
13. Buy lots and lots of pags of toilet paper. Set the kids in teams of 2 or four, and designate on in each group to be the "mummy". When you say go, the kids will wrap the mummy up in the rolls of toilet paper till they are totally covered. When a child is a full mummy, they hop around the party area till they get back to their group. First one to get back wins! This one is great fun, make sure to take lots of pictures!
14. Buy popsicle sticks, and have each child make a picture frame out of them. Let them decorate it with paint and halloween stickers. Take a picture of each child in his/her costume, get it developed, and each child gets to take it home in their frame!

Buy gourds from a local store or farm stand. Buy pots of acrylic paint, glue and bags of sequins or beads. You can use markers (washable) as well. Put all the decorations and gourds on the table and have them decorate them.
Another fun activity is cupcake decorating. Buy sprinkles, frosting, food coloring, etc. and have them decorate plain vanilla or chocolate cupcakes.
Kids love to work with their hands. These activities keep them busy for awhile.

This is fun and easy. Get a bunch of tiny pumpkins and some water based tempera paints and brushes and let them paint the pumpkins however they like. Have some glue, toothpicks and construction paper around so they can add things like hats and ears or whatever.
Have fun!
