you can leave your apartment but take it slowly. one step at a time. how about try to join a yoga class so you will have the reason to live your apartment or set a date to meet with friends even in a near coffee house just a few meters away from your apartment.

You write that you are seeing a therapist but you don't say what for. You also write that you had bad experiences and don't feel safe but don't tell what the experiences are or how you don't feel safe.

I wouldn't want to second guess your therapist but if you believe you are not getting the help you need maybe you should find another therapist. or at lease get a second or even third diagnoses from other therapists.

Have you have a physical to rule out any medical conditions?

Get a different therapist, preferably a M.D. who can prescribe you meds. You may have an anxiety disorder or depression and medication can alleviate those symptoms. However, I cannot diagnose you (nor can anyone else on this board) without more information. I don't want to leave my house either and it's because it's a hassle with three kids. Why don't you feel safe?
