Is there a software to determine lost or damaged dlls ?
I had a virus which my anti-virus software disabled and removed safely, however I think I've lost two or more dlls before the anti-virus kicked in. Is there a software or service that can help me determine any such damage?

You can run the System File Checker (SFC).
The SFC utility will scan your system for damaged DLL files, and replace them with the original version. The correct version of the file will be copied from a cache folder on your hard drive, if possible. If the file cannot be copied from the cache, SFC will prompt you for the Windows installation CD.
To run the System File Checker, click Start, then Run, then enter this command:
SFC /SCANNOW
Take care when running SFC because some dll's are naturally upgraded by other programs and this program only compares the original signatures...
You can also insert the Windows CD, Boot to it, and run the
Repair or Install (without formatting!!!).. which will repair the windows library files.
The repair will only do essential files and the reinstall will do all. Just do not choose format or you will lose your data.
If there is a specific dll that is damaged that is NOT from Windows ... you can do a google search for the dll and/or reinstall / repair the program it's from. Be careful downloading dll files from less than reputable sources...

If you are getting error messages at bootup, but are able to click an "OK" button and still load Windows and operate normally, most likely one of the dll's is still trying to load. Click the start button and click run. Type in msconfig and press enter. click on the "Startup" tab and scroll down and look for the name of the dll. If you find it, uncheck the box, then reboot. You will get a message about not showing the changes again. Click OK.
If you are looking for specific dll's, google dll and look for the ones you need.
