Why do you think Ron Paul's ideas are / are not workable?
I'm referring to Ron Paul's ideas as Ron Paul has expressed them.

I'd say his ideas are certainly workable as far as general principle. Most of them are based on upon things that once made for a very prosperous country, besides being Constitutionally valid. They're not that much different than those of Jefferson and Madison.
Now as far as them being workable from the standpoint of current affairs and simply by virtue of being president, it would take more than just him being president in order for his ideas to be put into practice. Several of them require acts of Congress to make happen. However, a good portion of the huge federal government are agencies of the Executive Branch which the president does have control of. Ultimately, it would depend upon 'the people' as to whether or not his ideas are workable. That is of course assuming that 'the people' are still the 'sovereigns of the country' and actually care enough to assert their will, whatever that may be. As it is, I believe the majority are apathetic and pretty much leave the decisions to be made by special interest minorities.
Only time will tell I suppose.

I think most of his ideas are workable as long as he is able to get past the vast government forces that will most certainly oppose him. He's against the subsidizing of some very large industries, namely medical, oil, and military. That is near a trillion dollars worth of clout influencing many aspects of our congress. So even though the people may want, or need, him to be president, the powers that be seem to be doing their best to make sure that doesn't happen. The beauty about the RP campaign is that he doesn't promise to give you anything he just promises to leave the citizens alone. The less Ron Paul affects your life the better he's doing his job.

Has anyone heard of checks and balances?!! If he is president, every idea he has goes through congress, it's not a matter of..."I'm president and so it shall be!" He believes strongly that congress is more powerful than the lone president (yes, president, not king). I believe Dr. Ron Pauls ideas are workable, but as he has stated...in order for them to work we, as a nation, have to change our thinking. If we want the government to run our lives and support us from cradle to grave, then don't vote for him. But if you are sick of big government controlling every aspect of our lives, Ron Paul's your guy.

You're the one asking the question. Why don't you pick a couple and tell us why you're excited about them, rather than expecting us to do all of the work? Then people can respond to specific positions.
