Why are we fascinated with the supernatural?

People like to be able to understand and explain things. When we can't, we try and find a way to do so. The supernatural is a prime example of this, so much is not understood or explainable that it does fascinate us as we try and find the answers to our questions.

For many, it is exciting to explore the unknown. Life can get monotonous so it's fascinating to think that there is something out there that would change every rule you thought existed.

People also use a belief in the supernatural as an escape mechanism in their own lives. Imagine someone unhappy with his/her lot in life and feeling helpless to change it. Believing in the supernatural can turn a "loser" into someone important.

Think of Harry Potter. An orphaned child raised by relatives who don't treat him well. He is helpless and nobody until he discovers he is a wizard.

No one wants to believe he/she is not important.

Well i guess it's down to experience. I for one have seen what i can only describe as a ghost which didn't scare me but i was quite shocked. The Supernatural is something which we will never fully understand. Do we carry on into another life or do we see the energy we leave behind. It's a great subject which we can debate for years.

I think the reason we are fascinated with the supernatural is because we are not just one dimension, we are spirit, body and soul.

So we know that there is a spirit realm as well as the natural realm we live in, and we are fascinated with it

perhaps because we tend to believe that something that is beyond our comprehensive capabilities can somehow solve our problems or answer our questions?

Or may be because we see that there is omething to be learnt from the supernatural by demystifying it.

some of us are afraid

most of us hope

the rest of us are silly enough to follow the weird sounds in a haunted house with a flashlight :P

To quote Drew Barrymore, "It's magical !!!"

I guess because its something that is relatively unknown to us.

were just human, but we don;t need to buy in to every thing.

Because we can't sing or dance.
