To all of you who think Hiphop and Rap should be seperated...?

baby girl told me that rap isnt an element? please, then where does beatboxing fit in? MC...rap, cmon now. its like an italian dude saying he aint white. Any bragadocious (every) MC will say somewhere in their lyrics how good at "rapping" they are. if u draw the line there, whos to say that theres a difference between MC's and lyricist. they wont, BECAUSE THEYRE THE SAME THING!! Please stop trying to over-intellectualize hiphop. if you see hiphop as a complex structure than your not as bright as you think you are. Like you say: rap talks about misogyny and killing and drugs. but what about when KRS1, NWA, koolG, xclan, pac, big daddy kane(and yes he posed in an issue of Playgirl back in the day) was rappin about the same thing. and you cant say its because it was back in the day. if its wrong now it was wrong then. True music lovers know what im talking about. Hiphop gave birth to rap.there will always be a wack-side misrepresenting any artform, but theyre all 1 in the same

Update:

thumbsup trendsetter. im not criticising music...im more like,...criticizing the criticizers.hah! and to mrs. regg, your use of the english language is appalling. but i think i understand what youre trying to saying. hiphop encompasses everything that uses it. i did not say that a song with an RnB sanger and a rapper isnt hiphop. you said that. you said yourself: rap is a part of hiphop. RnB/rap songs are still hiphop. if rap is a part of hiphop, then IT IS hiphop. thats like saying that my arm isnt me, but its apart of me.what the hell is that?

Rap is something you do, more of an activity. Hip-Hop is a culture, a set of ideas and beliefs that you live by. Rap is PART of hip-hop for alot of people... kind of like baggy pants, grafitti, slang, etc. If you are into the hip-hop culture, one of the things you do is listen to rap, or rap yourself, as the case may be.

rap and hip hop arent the same thing. rap is more like a form of hip hop. just bcuz it has a tight beat it dont make it rap it more than likely makes it hip hop. so basically wat u r saying is if da person aint rappin that means the song aint hip hop??? So wat does that make songs with r&b singers and rappers in it???U say it cant b hiphop cuz da person aint rappin but dat aint true rap is only a type of hip hop all of them r not the same thing

I guess this is a good way to look at things. I really have no argument or any kind of input, cuz I spend more time enjoying music than criticizing it...

Hip hop, rap, r&b, jazz! whatever your listening to its all about having no rules, no boundaries, and making art. Regardless of what genre it falls into.
