I have a Vermont castings wood stove.It will run you out of the house with the heat it gives off.I have a 2,500 sq.ft.ranch and I have to go to the back of the house to escape the inferno that my wife totally enjoys.

The room will be warm once you fire that stove up, that's with any stove. For maximum efficiency look for something that is EPA certified with a catalytic burner. Also look inside the firebox and you should see a lot of firebrick.

i wouldn't know but be careful, if they are not installed right they can be a fire hazard. read instructions carefully or have some one install it for you. why not a gas fire place, works the same as a wood stove.
