How to wash a 2 colour top?

I own quite a few tops that 2 colours. The shirt and jumper type tops that are black and have a white shirt neck and sleeves underneath.

How do I wash these and keep the white bits white? The dark bits always seem to run and stain the white.

Update:

I usually wash it on the "hand wash" cycle on my machine to no avail!

Should I wash it with the coloured clothes?

you can buy something called colour catchers its a sheet that you put in machine which prevents runs it does what it says catches the colour. Always make sure you read the care label and follow it then if it goes wrong you can take it back to where you brought it from cuz obviously the care label is wrong Take it to the dry cleaners cuz if it runs then and they've followed care label they'll get it tested youll get a report to take back to shop and youll get your money back if they dont follow care label and it runs they have to pay for new top

Use cold water...maybe add a little salt and just hand wash. I'm sure there are products on the market though that "hold" colours.

you need to wash your clothes on a coloured cycle & use what's called a "Punch Colour Catcher Sheet"...you can get them in most supermarkets & they literally stop the dyes from ruining your white clothes! miracle!

Use a colour programme at a low temperature.

try washing them with some vinegar. it keeps colors from running. this is always effective, but is most effective for the first wash, it really locks in the colors.
