why do people give thumbs down on questions.?

Okay so like the thumbs down doesn't decrease your points.

So the Asker has the power to pick your answer as best despite how many thumbs down you have. So don't sweat the small stuff.

I agree that some people are too liberal with the use of the thumbs down option. I like to reserve for answers that are mean and/or insulting. But a lot times, I get a thumbs down just because someone doesn't agree with my opinion, I say the heck with them!

Some people just go down the list and thumbs down others. I noticed on a few questions. I guess just to be buttholes. But normal folk do it if they disagree or if the answer doesn't have anything to do with the question.

It happens to me all the time too, and it's not bad answers.(in my opinion) I think that some younger users just like to use that thumbs down power way too much. I disregard these, because I know that my answers are always sincere and I am answering honestly to the best of my knowledge and experience.

You can't always agree with someone, but to place a thumbs down because your opinion isn't theirs, is ridiculous.

I bet I will get several thumbs down for this answer too!
