8 bits = 1 byte
1 byte = 1 character :)
Does a video card of 8 bits still exist? That's an artifact, sell it to a museum. lol

Store? A video card is not a storage device. Every video card is different. Some have as little as 16MB of RAM; while others have 512MB of RAM. These, of course, would be 8bit bytes.... so you can do the math.
Displaying data is an entirely different story. Again, it depends greatly on the video mode and capability of the card.
