Which star has the highest absolute magnitude?

The only clue I was given was that it's 60,000X our sun

    Since you said "absolute magnitude" I'll go with the brightest one we know of: Rigel. It has an absolute magnitude of "about" -7.

    But from earth it's only magnitude 1.5

    "Absolute Magintude" is measured from a standard distance - "Apparent Magnitude" is measured from Earth.

    So while the Sun has an apparent magnitude of -26, on an "absolute magnitude" basis it's a relatively modest 4.5.
