Onkyo TX-SR505 vs Denon AVR-1507?

First off the AVR 1507 is a old model and you should wait until the 1508 is out. Between the two the are almost identical spec's, with the denon edging so slightly in front. These are both lower end in each line up. Each also will do 1080p pass thru but will need separate audio hookups since these are HDMI 1.3a compliant.

You also neglected to disclose what else in model number you would be hooking up to it. Just one more input could make the difference sometimes. With only 2 HDMI each you may want to go a series up.

Speakers:

Stay away from Bose especially the AM setups. You can get a whole lot more with less money. The Bose do have a nice form factor but shouldn't form follow function? Between the two I like the Polk price and its superior construction. But don't limit yourself to satellites.

Also consider speaker sensitivity, a speaker with just 3 db more in the sensitivity will be TWICE as loud with the same power. (Conversely the inverse is true). Look at Klipsch as well as these are the most sensitive speakers I know. Orb audio could get some consideration.

What combination have you listened to? As this is a critical factor as well. How does it sound?

Hey, amongst Onkyo and Denon Receivers one basic difference you should keep in mind is that Onkyo has Good Hi-freqn output while Denon is good on Mid-Freqn. So u need to take a call based on yur choice of music. Secondly in India Onkyo has direct existence unlike Denon which is relying on distributors for providing for service. u can expect better support from Onkyo. About speakers dont even consider the Polks RM series those r the worst speakers you can buy. Try out the Jamo 102 these r beautiful speakers and they sound good too.

i use to sell high end audio and i can say honestly i loved onkyo equipment i use to have their m504 power amp. all the onkyo equipment i have is older (pre-amp,amp passive e-q,tuner etc.) and i love it. never had problems.between the 2 i like onkyo. denon is good equipment also..im just partial to onkyo.as far as speakers. between your choices i'd say polk. i sold bose for years (all the acoustimass systems).i never was a huge fan of bose. there good but overpriced.. heres how old my speakers are. remember walsh ohm..ha.ha. thats what i have...old but great speakers..good luck. (dont know if its true or not but years ago i was told that denon is alpines home line)..
