Are you as happy as I am that Wakefield was left off the World Series roster?

The Tums can be put back in the medicine cabinet folks, Wakey Brakey Heart is not pitching this time around.

Update:

Ya he did beat the Rockies. They are not leaving him off the roster by choice though, he is injured.

Update 2:

I think that getting Lester some pressure packed experience is going to be great even if he does suck it up. I am not worried about the series so 1 bad game doesnt worry me.

wow the sox are pretty loyal to their players who stuck with their troubled choking ways for most of past decade huh?

Since a knuckleball reacts better during humid conditions, I can see why the BoSox left him off the roster. With the weather conditions changing due to the Autumn season and the altitude in Denver, Wake's knuckler would probably have been all over the place. This is a sound baseball decision, but why keep Gagne on the roster? He has continued to be the disappointment of the year in Boston!

Actually, I am not glad. I love Wake and I think if they could have used him in relief it would have been great! Imagine facing Beckett with 97 or 98 mph fastball then in the next at bat facing Wake? Unfortunately, he is injured so it cant happen but, GO SOX!!!

I dont understand why Snyder is on the roster instead of Julian? Tavarez gave the Sox a lot of innings this year and for relief he is ok. Snyder on the other hand is iffy...

I like Wakefield now, but couldn't understand why they kept him around for years. In 2004 I started to get it, so I'm sad that Wake isn't on the roster. However, if as the globe is reporting the reason is physical then I'm okay with it.

I'm really happy to hear the Jacoby will be taking Coco's spot in center field!!!

Well enough, I suppose. Francona wouldn't dare pitch him in Colorado -- the thin air wrecks the floatiness of a knuckleball, and knuckerballers tend to get clobbered there.

Since definitely two and possibly three games are in Denver, have a pitcher who can be used effectively. Sorry, Wake; you're one of the good guys who got 'em this far, but physics is physics.

I'd rather see Wake than Gagne in the pen.

Wake didn't think he was still hurt from the interview I just heard. He threw 4 scoreless the other day too. Sounds like a good relief guy to me!

I just hope Lester steps it up in game 4 (I assume it will be Lester)...I wonder if Tavarez will take Wake's place...I like Wake but if he is hurting even a little it is smart to leave him off and don't even test his less than 100% knuckler in the thin air. Tito also announced that Jacoby will start in game 1 over Coco which is kind of a surprise since they are going against a lefty.

Seeing that he is injured, it might be a good thing for the Rockies since they couldn't get to him. A confidence boost for Rockies but I doubt anything more than that - doesn't necessarily mean they can beat the guy who replaces him on the roster.

Nothing the Red Sox management does surprises me considering J.D. Drew makes more money than Big Papi.

Not sure as to why they left off the "ONLY" guy to get a victory against the Rockies this year.

Both of the above mentioned are big mistakes.

youre happy wakefield who won 17 games this season, but eric gagne is on the roster....and you feel good about this

I'm trying to remember (and I may be wrong), but wasn't Wakefield the only Sox pitcher to beat the Rockies this year. Beckett got lit up.
