Statue of Liberty = Creepy?

Question

Ever since I was little, I have had this weird "thing" about the Statue of Liberty. It (she?) kind of creeps me out. The ending of Planet of the Apes seriously terrifies me. And the other day, I tried to watch a clip on You Tube of David Copperfield making the statue disappear. When they showed a close-up on her face, with dramatic opera music playing, I had to run away from the computer! I have more strange stories like this; I could go on and on...

When I was a child, I was fascinated with her, and I still am. But she creeps me out. I have even been to her twice, and 10 years ago I climbed up into her head, like you used to be able to do. For some reason, that didn't scare me at all!

I think in general, I'm creeped out by larger than life statues. Can anyone else relate?

I can't relate personally, but I do have a cousin who was afraid of George Washington when she was a kid. She used to check under her bed for him

I admit that I think the statue's face is a little creepy though.

She looks like a man. That's kinda creepy-ish. But otherwise she doesn't bother me. She's welcoming and generous.

What REALLY creeps me out is Uncle Sam. He and the bald eagle look so much alike. Bloodthirsty, male, beady-eyed raptors with white heads, pale eyes, and "beaky" noses. These are the symbols of our beloved country!! White imperialism & domination. Oh, just a guess.
