well i was outed by my stepdad. he had found some notes in my room from my girlfriend. i found out becuase i called home and was told it wasnt a good idea for me to come home that night. i asked why and was told that my stepdad did not agree with my lifestyle. it was horrible but finally he calmed down and i came home. then they uped my rent by about $200 (i was 18, living at home while in college) so i couldnt afford to live there anymore. i can only guess this was a "gay tax" thankfully my sister is wonderful and she let me come live with her until me and my girlfriend got an apartment together. i'm now 28 and have a good relationship with my mom but me and my stepdad are still at odds most of the time.

I found out my sister was bi when she posted it as her sexual orientation on her myspace page. At first I was mad, because she hadn't told me in person but felt comfortable enough to put it on the internet. Then I was mad because it seemed like she wasn't really bi, she just put it up there to sound cool - intrigue guys or whatever.
We don't really talk about it anymore- she married a guy, had a baby, and is now getting a divorce. I just want her to be true to herself and be comfortable enough to talk to me and the rest of the family. No need to hide who you are. I even told her I'm attracted to women (which I am!). She doesn't feel comfortable talking about it at all, under any context.

my mom was overly dramatic and she "fainted" but i know when she fakes it!as mean as it sounds i'm not joking she seriously faked it!then she was crying and both my mom and dad looked kinda angry.they were so stupid about it and my life sucked for 1 year cause i had so little privileges because they took so many away when they found out.i wasn't allowed to go out unless it was for school or with them keeping a close eye on me and i couldn't bring friends over the house even if they were the straightest guys in the world they didn't trust me cause they thought i'd have sex with them.it reeeally sucked!but things are okay now thank goodness :)

I'm straight.
When I told them so, they cried and kicked me out of the house.
;) Just kiddin' hun. I really don't have a story to tell as I am sraight, but I know my friend's. He told his parents that he was gay, and his father punched him in the nose while his mum cried.

I DON'T KNOW, NO ONE IN MY FAMILY IS GAY OR AT LEAST SEEMS TO BE. I WOULD FEEL THAT THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN SHUNNED IF THEY WERE IN MY FAMILY CAUSE MANY PEOPLE IN MY FAMILY ARE NOT AS OPEN-MINDED, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ME, BECAUSE IN THE END THEY ARE MY FAMILY MEMEBERS AND REGARDLESS THEY WILL STILL BE RELATED TO ME. BUT THAT WOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM BECAUSE I WILL STILL LOVE THEM ANYWAY, BECAUSE THEY ARE NO LESS OF A HUMAN BEING THAN I AM!

My mom said "well... when did this happen?... I mean it usually takes time for this kind of thing to ferment"... ( i had previously been married to a girl ) ... I said " I've always been me..."... she said "How old is he"?... and I told her...she said "I guess I'm not getting any more grand kids...."... and then quickly realized her mistake and said "But you could always adopt..."... and then we went on to talk about other stuff and that was that...
I had built it up in my head to be SO much bigger of a deal.... I was actually a little disappointed... kidding.. it was a GREAT relief!!...

Dad enjoyed song, all forms of song. He became right into a drummer in a band in his babies, and enjoyed "the beat" everywhere it occurred. He became right into a huge fan of the Beatles as I keep in mind. i don't remember him loving disco, notwithstanding it had a fascinating beat, so for beneficial, it does not have indignant him in any way. They concept John Travolta became right into a great dancer....

I'm not gay, but I have the rising suspicion that my parents think I'm gay.
From what I see, they are taking it quite well.

For some reason they both already knew, but were just waiting for me to say something.
Of course, mom said "don't tell your dad" and dad said "why didn't you trust me enough to tell me, and why do I get to be the last to know".

my mum knew anyway, she was fine about it
my dad took a few days to come round to it

all my other family are ok with it :)
