Cash in hand (labour only) will be about £300, putting it right after will be another £600, to do it through a decent legit firm may cost around £450, that is straight swap, no moving things to different positions, no replacing lead pipes or major waste pipe alterations, if tiling etc involved depends on who is providing the tiles etc

    Source(s): Legit plumber.

Get a recommendation like OP have mentioned. Get a couple of estimates and then ask about a cash discount. You'll probably save 15-20%. I've done this a few times. Some will say that is my price and I say OK I'll go with someone else. You'd be surprised how fast the price comes down. You will have a recourse. You will not have commited tax evasion like someone else mentioned. The company will have done something wrong for not reporting it as income.

Sorry I can't answer truthfully about the cost. It would be up to the person doing the job. I'd say you might get charged £300.

Personally, I wouldn't go down that road, because if things don't go right, you have no comeback and it'll cost you more in the end. I would get in touch with the water board and see if they can recommend someone, I don't trust Yellow Pages, as there are a lot of cowboys in there.

    Good Luck whatever you decide.

hard to say is it straight swap for swap then your looking at around 300 if you want baths or toilets, basin in different places then you have alot more extra work, hot and cold feeds, and waste pipes to re-route so you could be a few hundred quid more get a recommendation for this though its better safe than sorry, not all tradesmen who do cash in hand are cowboys i know alot of fellas who do this and their far from cowboys don't believe everything you read in the papers people.

Difficult to say. Is the bath already fitted and you just want it connected up or do you want the old bath removed and the new one fitted?

It's an easy job to do yourself with compression fittings but if you don't feel confident enough get a price off of several people before deciding. If you mention 'cash' someone's eyes might light up and you could get away VAT free. lol Did I just say that?

    best of luck anyway

In the 'gift' of the fitter.

However, 'cash in hand' merchants are often 'cowboys' with no reputation. Rely on a friend for any recommendation.

It could cost you more than if you paid "properly".

If you have to do it that way, get a recommendation from a friend or colleague.

Other than that put a sign up saying last chance saloon and the cowboys will be flocking round.

Are you that keen to commit tax fraud that you would accept crap work.
