In India, working parents are speak with kids in english. not in mother tongue. it is good for society?

well, India has always acted like that. Do you remember the history...when Persian invaded, local people adopted Farsi and it became the cool language. That's why 90% of Hindi is contained with Farsi words. Now British invaded and ruled India for 200 years. That was bound to happen.

At this time, America and other countries in the west have upper hand. people look up to them. They are the hot property...so every one wants to be like them.

It is cool in India to speak English because it comes from the West. Can you imagine, if America were to go third world, India will drop English. Right now, it is a fashion statement.

It is basically a disadvantage parents must speak to children in there mother tongue rather than any other language.

I think it's an andvantage because english is a very important language in a country like india and if a kid starts to speak english with his parents since the beginning he won't have problems in the future...it doesn't mean that he will forget hindi or his original language..he can learn it in a lot of other ways (friends, school, television, ecc...)

I'm not saying that they have to speak just english but it could be helpful for their future...just for that..

yes mostly in metro cities.in one way it's good to improve their vocabulary.if they go on doing like this, the children will not be able to know their mother tongue and it will be never spoken again.i'm afraid that my mother tongue tamil would come to an end.it is a very old language and it must not end.

Those parents and their children do make a sizeable part of the society. If they think using English is good, it means it is good for them and society to some extent.

Come to accept it.

If the mix English, with native language then it is good. The knowledge of English is crucial if India wants to develop and lift itsdelf out of the clutches of poverty.

no....its worst according to me if they dont use their mother-tongue or national language....you cant get the warmness and feelings from any language otherthn your own....to know english is good.....and also good to use...but to forgot own language is worst...

no it is not to good they hav to speak in both mother tounge and english;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; so far they not able to express many feelings in english wher as in mother tounge it is possible
