I have a 91 chevy and have had the same problem, we tried to trace it but couldn't figure it out. I was told by the guys at the local GM Dealer that its most likely a problem with the early computer system in these trucks....
I've never had trouble with my tranny not wanting to shift, sounds like you have a way more serious problem than what I had... Good luck! By the way I'd load that sucker up and take it to my local GM dealer and have them look at it. It's hard telling what the heck is wrong...

find a wiring diagram and break out the multimeter, you have a short somewhere, find the common point where all the accessories are close and that may be where the source of your short is
