It is a known fact that college graduates have a higher probability rate of a better income. You can learn to specialize in a field and get started on a great course in life. You will have a better vocabulary, more knowledge to establish a common ground with a better grade of people.

Well the reason for most people is that on the average people with a college degree make more money than their non-college educated counterparts. Don't put that in a college admission essay though. They're looking for you to lay it on thick.

Personally I would say something about personal development and bettering myself. In our information based society, knowledge is power: the power to change the world. Say you want to improve your mind so you can use it to improve society. Ignorance has been the cause of countless evils in the past. Only through unfettered learning can we prevent the problems of the past from recurring and solve the problems of the future. Etc., etc., etc.

All that stuff is true to an extent, but I doubt it's on the mind of many college freshmen. All their essays will have that kind of stuff though. Just let them know that money isn't your only goal (you can say financial security is a goal, just don't place too much emphasis on it).

Colleges today have largely turned into white collar trade schools. They'll give you a token philosophy and psych class to make you a "well-rounded person" and then tell you to go study something useful like accounting or engineering. Out of a certain subconscious guilt, admissions boards like to hear people sing songs of their noble past as if it were still around today. Go get 'em tiger!

A college education is important because of the many opportunity. There are many connections and resources you will gain from school. A high school diploma isn't going to cut it. The more knowledge and experience learn from college will help you get a better job.

College graduates earn more than high school graduates. A number of studies have also shown a high correlation between higher education and cultural and family values, and economic growth.

The main idea is that college education is the main way to prove to employers you know how to do a specialized job.

well i was going to say that it isn't depending on what you want out of life, but you could take it the other way-- better job opportunities, higher income, etc.

However, even a college degree doesn't guarantee you a decent job, let alone one in your feild. I graduated 2 years ago and can't get work because of lack of experience in my feild. My sis in law has a triple major, Russian, criminal justice, and i think poli-sci. she works in a medical office, only occasionally using her russian, and that's it,
