how much co2 is emitted during mining?

plz tell me....how much co2 is emitted in the atmosphere when mining is done????(1 million tonne)

    Well, it depends on what is being mined and how it is being mined.

    If coal is being mined it's likely a great deal per tonne is being released with the natural gas trapped in the coal (natural gas, mainly methane, usually contains some carbon dioxide), and much more will be released when the coal is burned (when coal burns it gives off CO2 in the combustion process). If internal combustion engines are used to obtain or transport the coal, there is more CO2 produced.

    If the mine is producing a metallic ore, building stone, or gravel, then the only major releasers of CO2 will be in the mining process itself because these materials don't usually contain CO2 in gaseous forms.
