Help an injured pigeon?

A pigeon was on my doorstep this afternoon, and its wing is trailing on the ground, like it's broken.

Is there anything I can do? I feel bad leaving it, but maybe I could leave it some bread and water or something? Can't afford to take it to the vet!

Please, help it! You don't need to take it to the vet. I know the perfect site that will give you instructions on helping the little guy :]

Catch the pigeon and put it in some kind of cage, cardboard box, something like that. Put a little lamp in the box so it can see. You might want to go to Wal-Mart, Food Lion, or some other local store and pick up some wild bird seed. Put a little bowl of seed and a bowl (or other kind of container) of water in the box with it. Use the site below to wrap the wing and place it back in the box. You don't have to hand feed it like the site says, but you can if you'd like. I've had pigeons that have done fine eating with a broken wing (most of them I didn't even wrap and they healed perfectly fine. In fact they were flying again soon after recovery). Just make sure the food and water is always clean and close by so the bird doesn't have to move much to get to it. Check on him frequently to see how he is but try not to disturb it much. Disturbing a pigeon causes stress, which will open up the door for bacteria, weakness, and sickness. After the pigeon starts holding its wing up like the other one, you can set it outside. If it flies, it's ready to go and is healed. If not, the bird may not be ready to leave yet and you may want to keep it for a little while longer.

Good luck and I hope it heals quickly :]

Get a towel, and carefully pick it up and bring it inside. Put a towel in a box and set the pidgeonin it, ,closing the lid almost all the way. Keep it somewhere warm. Get on the internet and search for animal help sites in your area. There should be a number, call it and someone will come pick up the bird. It won't cost you a thing. In the mean time, put a small bowl of water with the bird, and maybe a peace of bread but leave it alone and let it rest.

sorry to declare it yet you probable can no longer help it and can basically be prolonging that is soreness. i very plenty doubt any organic international centre would be drawn to assisting it and the rspca or pdsa rather won't... you do actually might desire to be very careful dealing with it and confirm you wash your arms very thoroughly afterwards. while that is recovered or died you're able to desire to put off something that is been in touch with, they might carry disease.

Normally there are wildlife organizations in most areas that you can take it to for free and they will take care of it.
