can you "mold" jello around something?

I would like to place my co-worker's stapler in a jello mold. How would I do that? Just place the stapler in the bowl and then pour the liquid jello around it then place it in the refigerator in order to chill? How many boxes of jello should be used? Is one enough, or should I use more?

Hmmm... a stapler might be kind of heavy for that type of "suspension" under normal circumstances. You *could* double the amount of Jello mixture... making it much thicker and thus able to support itself in the shape and to keep the stapler from just pulling loose.

I'd also recommend wrapping the stapler in clear saran wrap or something like that to keep the jello from getting into the works of that device. (Unless your intention is to destroy the stapler)

Use about four to five packages of Jello ... cut the amount of water that the instructions recommend in half to create a higher density mixture. Put in the stapler and suspend it upside-down in the liquid (use something like string or wires to hang it from a frame over the bowl) -- 'cuz it's funnier if the stapler is in the MIDDLE of the Jello mold ... not just sitting at the bottom. Chill and let harden. Flip it from the mold onto a flat plate or platter and serve.

You'll need more than one box, and I'm sure if you want to be able to eat the Jello afterward you should put the stapler in something, and put the Jello around that!

I would put the stapler in a clear container, then the container in the container you ultimately want to take to your co-worker.

Then, make the Jello according to the package instructions. You'll need at least 4 to cover the stapler, maybe more.

    Good luck, and quite creative!

Depends on how big the stapler is. If it's small, then one large box should suffice.

If you want it to stay suspended in the middle, you'll have to do it in 2 steps and prepare 2 batches. Prepare the first mixture and pour it into the bowl, letting it set in the fridge. Place the stapler on the jello that's set in the bowl, then prepare the 2nd box according to the "Quick Set" directions that are on most boxes. Pour that mixture on top, and let it set in the fridge as well.

one large box is enough. but I would recommend not putting the entire amount of water, maybe cut it down to three cups instead of four, that way it will be firmer and keep its shape better. haha good one! i should do that to my boss. oh but wait, he doesn't do any work so he might not notice...
