What's the difference between a regular ultrasound and a nucleaur ultrasound?
I got a thyroid ultrasound since a bloodtest came up confusing and thyroid issues run in my family so I thought no big deal. Now they want me to do a nuclear ultrasound which I am not sure what it is. (While searching Yahoo! Answers there was stuff related to cancer which kind of freaked me out.) :-( Thanks. :-)
I wonder if I have to fast I guess I'll have to check that out. :-) I am glad it doesn't make you sick that's good to know now I am more at ease. :-) (Hopefully they can get a needle in me to inject it I have hard to pierce veins.) :-)

A regular ultrasound uses sound waves to "see" inside your body. With a "nuclear" version, they inject a dye into your bloodstream to help highlight more. The dye is harmless and won;t make you sik. It just helps them get a better picture.

A nuclear ultrasound is different in that they will inject a dye into your artery. It will then show up on a scan much clearer.
If there is even a hiccup in your history, family history, a hospital will do this test to cover their hospital but most important to make sure your issue is benign.
God Bless, will pray for you
