How much should you txt your friend if they have a different carrier than you and have to pay per txt?

I have AT&T because of the iPhone, and lots of my friends still have Verizon. Some of them don't care, but others want to keep txts with me to a minimum because they get charged a lot from Verizon. How much do you think "minimum" is? Only real important stuff, or maybe just small conversations. Or do you think not at all? (Keep in mind I can't always make a phone call because I go to school).

Update:

Most of my friends' parents pay for their bill, but they have to pay extra charges (like downloads or txting people not with their carrier) with their own money.

if i were you I would limit myself on the text messaging keep it plain and simple nothing to long if you go to school then my suggestion would be to call your friends after your done with school and tell them that your at school and will call them when your done the text messaging maybe only the important stuff to text otherwise I wouldn't do much just make it plain and simple is all good luck!!!

I'd avoid texting them unless you had to. Its not particularly fair to wrack up a friends bill just to chat. If they don't care, thats one thing. But if they have to pay for their overages, I'd write a note (its what we did before cell phones and text messaging!!! hehe) or see them in person.

Only text those 1's if it's really important, remember you won't be the only 1 texting them. If they don't care text away!!!
