there are quite a few online virus scanners, but that's all they do, they want you to buy their subscription based product to actually (remove) the viruses.
you could try Spybot search and destroy, that's a freeware spyware remover.
I'll recommend you Windows Live OneCare. they offer a free PC tune up over the web and that includes defragmenting, cleaning your registry, actually removing any viruses found on your computer etc. you can access that by using google searching "live onecare tune up" very nice, buying the program is good too, I use it and it doesn't bother me unless I really need to see something, but that's just me.

Usually I direct customers to try http://www.bitdefender.com/ as an online virus scan, it also picks up some spyware. Online scanners are not as effective at picking up infections, and most importantly they don't prevent bugs from getting on your computer in the first place.
If price is your reason for avoiding having a full-protection program on your PC, I would suggest downloading both Spybot and AVG Anti-Virus, they will protect you VERY well considering they're free, and if you run scans frequently you won't run into many virus issues. A low-cost option I have had much success with is Spysweeper w/ Antivirus. Very powerful program, and very reasonable yearly subscription fee. ALSO my favorite thing about it is it doesn't suck up all your computer resources/memory to run in the background unlike Norton and McAfee.... so system speed doesn't suffer.
