what activities would you use to promote/teach emotional development in a 3-4 yr old?

Imaginative play (puppets can be used to act out real life experiences as can dressing up, home corner, etc because the child is able to take on the role of another person).

Musical activities (banging a drum can help children release any aggression)

Water and sand play (can be soothing to touch and pour)

Wood (banging and release of aggression)

Clay, play dough, modelling materials (helps to release aggression as well as being soothing and calm to touch)

Books and stories - hearing about how other people deal with emotions/worries/first experiences can help children to talk about their own

Writing/drawing - children can write or draw about what they are feeling.

Emotional Development Activities For Preschoolers

I have a 7 year old who use to act just like that with his ONE year old brother like 6 months ago. He would take all the babies toys and get mad when the baby was playing wih his toys until I said "Oh so your little brother is not good enough to share with but your friends are? In the trash they go!", and I threw his favorite toys in the trash. When he hit the baby, I hit him right back on the hands or butt and he stopped as well. Now he always shares his toys with his brother and doesnt take them away... unless they are very small in which I tell him those he can play with alone and away from the baby. I was very hard on him for a couple months and now he plays well with his brother.

Craft- cut out pictures of different facial expressions, e.g surprised eyes, happy mouths etc and have children paste them on paper plates to make a feeling face
