Does is bother you when the asker chooses the worst answer as "Best Answer"?
Case in point:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ApuOU...
Here is an example of the asker overlooking many intelligent answers to find the only other bigot that posted an answer so she could agree with her. Should we have the ability to override the selection of "Best Answer"? Should the criteria be changed so voting selection has preference over the asker being able to choose? How about if the thumbs down outnumber the thumbs up you arent eligible for Best Answer?Any other thoughts??

Yes that does bother me. I think you have a great Idea that you should request to Yahoo in some from. However somtimes good answers do get many thumbs down especially on a controvesial issue people gives thumbs down becasue they disagree with the given answer. But yes I think that maybe the asker can choose a best answer and they person gets 5 points for that and them maybe the community can choose a best answer for 10 for the winner of that. If they both are the same for the best answer maybe the answerer can get 20 points and then maybe since the asker of the question really did choose a good answer he should get a bouns too. But again I like your Idea and I think you should submit it to yahoo.

Some people are just looking for others to agree with them rather then gain any real insight. The reason the "asker" gets to choose the best answer is because theoretically we are here to help them with their question. I think it might be helpful to have a second best answer voted on by everyone. I haven't seen one this bad but I have seen some answers picked as the best that were just ridiculous.

YES. When there are multiple votes as to a BEST Answer, that should have some weight. And it is a sneaky way of spreading bigoted messages. We should respond more fully to such queries, rather than the short yes or no answers that were most common in your example, and even provide supporting evidence.

No, it does not worry me. The asker is finding for a particular answer to his question. and that's the single he will choose for. usually the questions are very biased, and if one does not accept as true with the questioner´s viewpoint, then you may get many thumbs-as much as a minimum of one´s answer, however the questioner isn't likey to make your recommendations up on it by way of fact the suitable.

It's point gaming a lot of the time pick your mates as best answer. I saw an unbelieveable one a couple of days ago. Question was about how to remove a virus, best answer chosen by asker, Yahoo, my Yahoo. What the heck is that about. Sad that points are so important to people.

It doesn't bother me at all. I don't care what answer the asker chooses as best answer, nor do I go back and look at what answer WAS chosen... I don't care. I try to be helpful in most cases. If something seems better to the asker, then that's their choice.

I think it is the askers right to choose what they feel the best answer for them is no matter how stupid others may feel it is, it was their question so to them if the worst answer is the best they have the right to choose it. I'm not going to let myself get upset over their stupidity....if anything I will just laugh at it.
But I do see what you are say.

This is light reading...not the entrance exam to Harvard Law School. It's pure entertainment. Enjoy yourself!

Yeah, people will choose the answer that tells them to do what they wanted to do in the first place.
...which makes me wonder, "What's the point?"
It's the same for talkshows. Dr. Phil tells them what they want to hear.
