Home martial arts "gym" tips, opinions, ect?

So I am turning my garage into a place to get my work out, practice martil arts, and spar. This will be great for me and some of my friends whose schools are 30+ minutes away for work outs throughout the week with all/most the luxuries of thier Dojo/Kwoon/ect. The ones helping me fund this are black belts (or equivelent) in KSW, TKD, Hung Gar, Wing Tsun and Akido. We only talked shortly about this idea and they dont know I started plans already. The hope is for 3-5 people working out at once at most.

A link will be up very shortly for my design for my 25x19 garage. Though very rough I used what i learned in my highschool architect classes to help to a small extent.

Everything is labled except the door way (yellow) and the hot water heater (maroon). Along the south wall is a foam mat, long mirror, wooden dummy, and 3-4 striking bags. The NW corner has my work area. I build Wooden Dummies and sell them to people locally (maybe on ebay soon). What am i missing? Any advice? More info...

Update:

I will be adding fans, AC, and a area eater also once contruction is complete. Any advice would be great. What am I missing? For more room I also have 2 large yards (the garage might be a little small for long pole). Maybe good website/store to buy materials. Suggestions on mats, ect. Or just opinions or picture/layout design of/for your own work out area. Thanks.

You should include roll up mats for you ground work and throwing. The best are Dollamur from Swain. Very inexspensive and great quality. You can even find them on Ebay a little bit cheaper. theyre easy to store and set up.

well i cant help you much with the design as i am far from an architect but as for the equipment most places have some heavy bags, mirrors, matts, medicine ball, punching targets/focus mitts, kicking shield/thai pads, belly guard, double ended striking bag, speed bag, wooden dummy, boxing or mma/grappling gloves, shin pads, head gear

but i would be pretty good with just a heavy bag, focus mitts and thai pads. i see you have an aikido person so matts would be necessary for any grapples and throws. and more would seem kinda excessive and very costly. for 3-5 people i'd probably only get one of each: thai pads, punching bag and focus mitts and you can just have everyone alternate any more seems like a waste but if you have the money by all means do what you want with it im just saying if it was me.

anyways if you want pricing on training gear such gloves, shin guards, heavy bag, focus mitts, kicking shields, matts etc...you can email me i can probably give you a good price

just do any martial arts because many people start martial arts at age sixty. i'm also 16 and i am in a tai chi class with old people...very old... so just go for it and try to find a martial art that suits you and is partially internal so you can practice for as long as you want
