Need help with error?

OK here is the deal. When I tried to install a winows up date it failed and I received an error. So I emailed Mircosoft they said that error occurs when windows vista backup feature stops working and is most likely caused by the NVIDIA RAID driver stopping the feature. So for the past 3 weeks they had me try everthing still could not update that one file. (others have updated) Anyhow they said I should reinstall Windows Vistsa. I can't because it came preloaded on my computer. So they want me to use the recovery disc. Here's the problem when I start to back up and install the second disk a error comes up and I can't back up. So how do I copy everything on my computer? Should I just burn everything on to a cd? Any help would be great.

Yes, if you can't do a recovery backup from the recovery disc, just manually burn your personal files to a CD or DVD. You may backup your files you have in your My Documents folder, your saved bookmarks, any files in the Desktop. However, you cannot backup the programs you have installed on your computer. YOu need to have the installers for those programs, when your computer is up and running again from the recovery.
