My brother use to live in the US , and I've been there several times a year for about 10 years now. In general Americans don't know anything that happens unless its on their street. I often had discussions with Americans, and I knew more about America than they did - let alone Canada or, heaven forbid - Europe or Asia. The newspapers and the TV news are very much centered on themselves, so its not really their fault if they don't know anything.

The loonie being worth more then our dollar isn't a good thing for Canadians. People are going to loose jobs in Canada because Canadian business are going to be importing from the U.S instead of buying from Canadian manufacturers. Maybe some people don't watch the news and that's why they don't know about the current events. I am American and my husband is Canadian. Funny to read about people bashing the Americans. I really don't think we are all that different. Oh yeah and once we get Bush out of the White House, I think our economy will get stronger

Typical american attitude if their up they will brag and kick canada! You obviously heard how they love calling canadian money monopoly. Americans have a "I " type of society they feel the need to be number one and step n the rest of the world .In schools they learn about american history ,culture ,society ,politics let little effort is paid on the rest of the world !

by the way their are alot of americans on here claiming to be canadians as well that I have noticed so they can inslut others.Small minded people !

Source(s): I just read one comment by an american that we share the same government structure and we have a republican party as well ...lol

Because the rise in the Loonie isn't a big deal in the US. It really doesn't effect us except that it will give Americans more jobs.

It's a big deal in Canada because of the potential of recking the Canadian economy with a tremendous loss of jobs.

25% of the Canadian economy is tied to exports to the US. With the rise of the Loonie these exports are now more expensive. Which means less exports to the US. Which means less Canadians having jobs. On the flip side, US exports to Canada are now cheaper. Which means more exports to Canada. Which means more US jobs.

I am fully aware of the dollar values of US and Canada. This current equal value is a plus for US economically. It is bad for the Canadian economy, Have your goods and services declined in price? No, so I don't really understand you gloating about it. I certianly don't see it as a burst bubble. The US dollar has been overvalued worldwide for too long. and it is a drag on US economy.

I think the answer is why should they care about the Canadian dollar. I think it is so funny that we as Canadians are so proud that our dollar is out performing the American dollar. How does our dollar being worth 1.07 greenbacks burst there bubble.

I am all for having pride in our country but lets pick good things to be proud of. How about our countrys environmental record, oh actually the americans take better care of the environment then we do.

How about our record on taking care of the poor? Come to the Peigan or Blood Reserves here in Alberta, you will see how third world life is.

Our dollar is doing well based mostly on the price of oil. What happens to our dollar if oil falls back to $60? Then will americans be bursting our bubble?

We have a lot to be proud of why are people proud of something so stupid?

They say that 1 in 5 American's cannot identify the USA on a world map. If that's really the case, they have much bigger issues to worry about than the value of our Canadian dollar. Just ask Miss South Carolina. ;)

sorry, but the value of the us dollar on foreign markets is a non-event to most Americans. It does not effect us at all except that it makes import items slightly higher for us to purchase.
