Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file.what can I do?

I have a video clip I must see. When I attempt to play it it says "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file. For additional assistance, click Web Help." I hear the audio but can't see the video. I click on web help and it says " You've encountered error message C00D11B1 while using Windows Media Player." It then blames it on the volume card or something. Do you anything I can do or download? I don't think there is anything wrong with my computer.

It seems you are right Micrsoft says it is your Sound Card needs an upgrade which is kind of funny since you said you can hear it. You didn't say what kind of file it was so that makes it a bit more dificult but I think your best bet is to convert it to something else TMPGEnc is probably the best thing to use. eMail me if you have any problems

Download the essentials codec pack. It'll probably solve your problem. Just google search it.
