I think there is something wrong with my dog ..can someone help???!!!?

okay, my dog has been very quite and sleepy and his tail is becoming BALD! i'm serious and his tail has now red spots on it (I don't know if that is because he bites it all the time and is now only visible because the hair on his tail fell out)

And a dead cat was discovered in our compound - I don't know if that is related to my dog's current condition.

So if any body knows of this condition, please tell me what it is and how it can be cured!

It sounds like your dog may have a serious skin infection or mange. Either way, he needs to be taken to the vet immediately.

Until you know what the problem is and are treating it, your dog should be quarantined from all other animals. Mange especially is incredibly contagious and can be fatal if not treated.

I wish you luck; and as I said, please get your dog to the vet as soon as you possibly can.

    I have a few questions.

    1. How old is your dog? My dog lost his hair on his tail when he got old. Even if he is older i would still take him to the vet. I am just trying to give you an idea of what might be causing it.

    2. Does his hair from his back pull out easily?

If you can pull chunks of hair out very easily without really pulling he may have a fungus on his skin. Get him to a vet. He will give you something for it. I can't remember if my baby took antibiotics for it or not, but i do know that he gave me shampoo to bath him with. He also said let him in the sun cause it will give vitamins to his skin.

edit: I forgot to add to #1 that Buddy lost his hair very slowly over time. Not all at once. It didn't just fall out he would just lose it and it didn't grow back then after the fungus it never grew anymore hair. It was almost completely bald.

Also the vet said that they could get the fungus from something outside that was dirty.

Definitely sounds like a job for a vet. I mean, if the hair on your tail was falling out, had red spots on it and was continually itchy, you would go to a doctor wouldn't you?

Call a veterinarian - why do you think people go to medical school to become animal doctors? Would you want someone to not seek medical treatment for you if you were covered with spots, sleepy and losing your hair? You are guilty of animal cruelty and better hope no-one reports you to the police, animal control or the Humane Society which I, DEFINITELY,

would do if I were a neighbor of yours!

I hope he is eating well and there is no fever. It may be a transisent condition and he will be OK. For the tail, apply some antibacterial cream/ sprinkle anibacterial powder.

    Good luck!
