I need some ideas!?

I am planning my wedding for December of 2008 and I just found out that my parents are not planning on helping me pay for my wedding. I need some ideas for a winter wonderland wedding. And some ideas for sticking to a budget.

You should def. try to make a lot of your own things....a good idea is to get a bunch of friends together and just start writing out the things that you really want at your wedding...then come up w/ ideas on how to do those specific things cheaper..hobby lobby & wal mart sell fake flowers...Christmas lights are really cheap and you can use mesh or white batting (cotton like stuff that goes in quilts) for the snow....Decorating for a Winter Wonderland wedding is easier than you think. Close your eyes and imagine it. Frosted Christmas balls float from a ceiling of organza and thousands of little white lights. Pine trees outline the room, reaching up to the sky. Mirrors cover the walls, reflecting this beauty for eternity. You, in your pristine white dress, are the queen of this Winter Wonderland, and everyone is here to bless and celebrate this day.

    What is winter?

What is winter to you? Perhaps it is white, blue, or deep jewel-tones. Maybe it is all of these. Is it lights and icicles? Or maybe snow and ice-skating make you think of winter. What is it that makes winter so magical? Make a list of the things you love about it. Once you have done that, it will be much easier to see what you will use to decorate your very own winter wonderland. What items are on your list? Use these in your décor for an unforgettable wedding.

You can put a twist on any of the following ideas to create a feeling that is unique to you, or to allow for budget differentiations.

    Decor

? Organza or other sheer fabrics draped from the ceiling, and down the walls, concealing small white Christmas lights.

? Organza bows on the backs of the chairs. Or hang wreaths on the backs of each of the chairs.

? Iridescent Christmas balls hanging on clear fishing line from the ceiling.

? Mirrors on the walls, or small mirrors with tea light candles on the tables.

? Centerpieces made by freezing water in a large Styrofoam cylinder after placing Holly Berries still on their twigs in it. Remove the Styrofoam, or other form, and you have an instant beautiful ice sculpture. Or use a clear glass vase.

? Pine trees with ornately wrapped “gifts” under the trees, or one beautifully decorated tree in your colors used to hold the gifts others will bring.

    Music

? Find out if a local high school has a bell choir. You may be able to hire them for a very low price, or even for free.

? Hire a local harp player. (For those on a budget, you may be able to hire a music student from a local college or university.)

? Classical guitar is another beautiful holiday musical genre.

Putting together any number of these things, and adding in anything that may remind you of the magical feeling of winter will help you to create your very own decorated Winter Wonderland wedding.

It's very easy to do a beautiful wedding staying on a budget. Sit down and very carefully plan out all areas of the wedding and how much you are going to spend there.

    Start with:

Service: Location (rental fees, pastor's fees, etc), Decorations, Programs, Favors (Bubbles, rice, etc), Photographer, Videographer, etc, etc, etc

Clothing: dress, shoes, undergarments, hair, makeup, nails

    Then

Transportation to Reception: Rent a car, use your own, etc

Then Reception: Location, Decorations, Food, DJ, etc etc

Then Honeymoon: Location, Lodging, Meals, Transportation, Fun activities, etc

This will take a LONG TIME to get every detail in there. Do one area a day, come up with everything you can possibly think of that may need to be paid for during that part of the reception. Once you've done that for every area, go through and cut out what's not necessary. Someone in your family can bake well? Ask them to make the cake, chances are they will give it to you as a present or real cheap. Some has a nice a digital camera? Ask them to take the pictures!! It's so so so easy to get prints off the internet or even at Wal-Mart these days. Think of things like that, that have no real effect on the outcome of your day.

The most expensive thing, I feel, is the reception. The easiest way to cut cost on the reception is to LIMIT THE GUEST LIST. Don't invite 400 people if you can only afford to feed 50. If you want to invite more people than you can afford, think of an alternative style reception: all desserts, an hours devours only reception, a brunch reception (get married in the morning, have the reception at brunch) Buffets are always cheaper than a sit down dinner.

You say the winter, so why not have a more fun theme reception? Have 10 different types of soup, lots of bread and cheese. That's a pretty cheap way to go, but still very very classy and chic.

    Hope this all helps!

Find someone with a holly bush that will let you get greenery from them...greenery goes a very long way in lieu of flowers.

Use artificial flowers instead of real ones for bouquets and whatnot. Use real flowers or rent potted plants (poinsettias maybe?) for floral arrangements around the church or venue.

Get lots of tulle in ivory or white and drape it over everything that will stand still long enough. It'll give the airy, snowy effect and it's cheap.

Use white christmas lights and candles. Both are cheap.

Have a friend take your pictures. Have a friend video your wedding.

Borrow whatever you can from anyone.

As for catering, keep the crowd small, and go to wholesale warehouses for the food (i.e., Sam's club).

Buy pretty Christmas ornaments at the end of THIS Christmas season when they go on clearance. Silver snowflakes, ribbons, to use in your decorations. You can buy it for a fraction of the price the day after Christmas.

Start talking to your friends. You'd be amazed at how many will let you borrow christmas decorations.

A couple fake trees borrowed from friends with some cans of "snow" would work well.

The dollor store (everything for $1) sells small glass winter vases every year. They work nice as center peices with a little water, floating candle and fake snow. You can find winter confetti around christmas also. Sprinkled on a green runner for the walk up the isle would be beautiful.

    Have fun.

We were married on a riverboat in Pittsburgh, the package included a 4 hour cruise for our guests, dinner (which was fabulous) DJ or band. We kept our guest list down to 75, my suggestions are to check out package deals, keep your guest list comfortable, there is no need for 250 people, and that is to much stress for you and your fiancee'. Mountain retreats, bed and breakfast or inns can accommodate smaller crowds. Discount bridal shops for dresses and 1 person (who is your closest friend) to stand up with you, ring barrier and flower girl. Our wedding has been talked about for years and is always brought up when weddings are discussed, I hear nothing about my brother's wedding-300 guests or my sisters-250 guests. Remember as stress free as possible and who cares if someone gets offended if they do not get an invite, chances are they will forget about it anyway.

Well, I am getting married December 1, 2007 here in Germany. than again next December in the States. My fiancé is German and I am American.. anyway, why aren't your parents helping? Maybe if I knew the answer to that, i could tell you more.

Do they not agree with the wedding?

You should try and talk to them about it, I mean.. they ARE your parents. If not, just make your own decorations! You could get some small tree branches, some silver glitter confetti and glue. Then put glue all over the branches and dip them in the confetti!

    Pretty.

I ordered my wedding dress custom made from China through ebay. It was much, much cheaper. Like $200 counting shipping. I also ordered my veil online. It was only $20 and was the same as the ones Davids Bridal sells for $200. We also got our wedding invitations super cheap because he designed them on PowerPoint and we ordered them through VistaPrint. They print them for you and mail them to you. I think it was about $30 for 100 invitations.

The absolute best way to turn him on is to surprise him. Make the move on him in an unusual location or setting. Break any scheduling habits you may have also. The more you talk about it, he will probably grow uncomfortable. If you play the feminist point of view...He is not going to go for it.

Look for a wedding planner don't go at this alone most wedding planners stay within your budget. in reality your parent's don't have to help you . Just talk to your partner in regards of the date it may be too soon.
