When you are parallel parking for your driver's test, and a car is coming from behind, what do you do?

I'm taking my driver's test on Friday, and I'm nervous about parallel parking. It's not so much that act of parking, but what if I'm about to park on a narrow road, and a car is coming from behind? I know to look back, but what good will it do? I don't think you can skip over that part of the road test, nor pass the car as you would in a real-life scenario. Can anyone help me out here?

First off, the examiner will choose a road which is wide enough for anyone to pass, don't worry about the road being too narrow.

If a car comes before you've started the manoeuvre, put your indicator on and select reverse, your reversing lights will signal your intentions, the other driver will then make the decision whether to pass you or not, DO NOT move until your sure of what he is going to do.

If you've already started to turn into the spot, continue to do so, if you stop half way through there may not be enough room for the other vehicle to pass due to the front of your car swinging out.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES must you invite the other driver to pass by waving or flashing your lights, that's in contravention of the Highway Code and will be marked against you.

I presume you'll be having a lesson immediately before the test, if so, note down any queries or concerns you have and talk them over with your instructor.

    Don't worry, and good luck.

Put your emergency flashers on, and give a hand signal to the driver out your window to pass you. Do not try to park until the driver has passed you.
