Programming reference for Adobe Acrobat Reader document security?
I have been asked to develop a slimmed-down substitute for the Adobe Document Server to provide some basic protections for downloaded documents such as expiration date and one-machine useability (so a doc cannot be copied). I see a file named ebx.etd is used to tell Adobe Reader where to get permission settings for a doc but do not know how to handle this on the server side or what information to send to Acrobat.
Do you know of programming references that will provide information on how Adobe Reader handles this?
Do you know of existing non-Adobe systems that provide these sorts of protections to Adobe PDF files?

I would suggest downloading the Adobe Acrobat SDK at
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/
It has extensive documentation on all of the different parts of the Adobe Acrobat reader/writer, and several code examples as well. Also, for help, you could go to www.acrobatusers.com, and ask questions in their forum. Good luck : )
