Anyone else feel that the film American Gangster was boring?

It seemed like a story for white people. i mean, why did they go so in depth with russel crowes character and his custody battle? cmon, it seems like i will never get that 3 hours, nor my money back. a story about nicky barnes wouldve been better. hell, the BET doc was more exciting, and that was only an hour.

Update:

i guess i was expecting more action from this drama. the acting was good, but as far as gore and action, scarface city of god beats it by far. i know they werent trying to glamourize frank, but check this if you like trafficking game:

you know what you right!!! they talked to much about russle crow... its so much that they didnt cover about frank... dont get me wrong i liked the movie... but i would have liked it better if that guy involved in the custody battle did not pop up all the time.

I mean, if gore was what you were looking for, then it wasn't the movie for you.

I felt like the movie could've gotten deeper into Frank's upbringing, and how he got into the business, but it was still a solid movie. It goes into depth about what a "gangster" really is more than the other movies I've seen. Most other movies depict a fantasy that if you kill a few of the right people, you'll be at the top...and that may be true in some cases. But let's be real.

Anyway, to answer your question, I say no. Maybe the scenes were boring, but the storyline was good.

    I loved the movie

u thought it was boring because u compare it to scareface

    HELLO scarface was fiction

this was based on a real story

    this happened in real life

I'll admit the custody battle was alittle annoying though

they should have cut that out

I am going to see it tonight... it starts in 2 hours.

I will let you know when I get back lol

    edit:

ok I saw it and thought it was really good! It was just soooo long and I found it kinda hard to sit there for so long too. I liked how there was lots of scenes and so much stuff happend in the movie. Overall I would say it's a great movie.... I just don't think I would be able to sit through it again for awile.

  • No,but I will this week. Redeem yourself and go see 'Into the Wild' not taking anything away from AG, but the Philosopical messages in 'Wild' stretch far beyond any gangster bio. Trust Me!!!!!

Yeah, I agree that 3 hours of my life was also wasted! Plus I had to sit in the third row back of a very crowded theater and my neck was hurting for about 2 hours afterward! Jerks.

It definitely WAS NOT a story for white people. And it was boring, because the plot was doomed from the start.
