France has a problem with illegal immigration too. They have many North Africans, who like our Mexicans are not making the effort to assimilate or learn the language.

Good answer, but your teacher wants your thoughts, not ours.
France's percentage isn't changing that dramatically; the French are very proud of their language, and not about to take up another. I traveled there for 10 years and the younger people can speak English, but won't and don't unless in a social situation where it would benefit them.
Other people moving in does have an influence but they have strict rules about using their language in the workplace. In the homes, they can speak whatever they want, but the country doesn't want to lose its culture and traditions through others coming in and taking over. Look at Miami Florida as an example of another country/language taking over (the USA). Here in California, I can't go anywhere without wondering what is being said, because the 2nd language, Spanish, is fast becoming the first language in use. Sadly, our cultures and traditions are being pushed aside for illegals taking over, and legals allowing it.
Please notice I said Spanish. We have people from other countries, but they have assimilated into our country by learning our language. Chinese, Moroccan, Dutch, Irish, all are here, and bilingual, but not replacing English.

It's not decreasing. French has been the official language since 1992[2] (although previous legal text have made it official since 1539, see ordinance of Villers-Cotterêts). France mandates the use of French in official government publications, public education outside of specific cases (though these dispositions are often ignored) and legal contracts; advertisements must bear a translation of foreign words.
In addition to French, there are also a variety of regional languages. France has signed the European Charter for Regional Languages but has not ratified it since that would go against the 1958 Constitution.

It's a matter of demographics. The aging French society needs to bring in immigrant workers in order to fund their semi-socialist retirements. They're importing Muslims from Africa big time. These are people have no interest in learning French or assimilating. Their allegiance is to Islam.
Consequently France, like most of Europe, is doomed. The decrease of French speakers is merely a symptom.

The French people have a very low birth rate and a very open immigration policy. They (and many other European countries) are being overrun by immigrants that are building their own non-integrated cultures instead of becoming French.
ADD: Did you know that in England Piglet (from Winnie the Pooh) is outlawed in the work place because some Muslims "take offense" at the presence of pig images?

Massive inmigration, but don't worry french will never dissapear.
Plus the inmigrants who choose France to live learn a lot more french than those who go to Germany or Italy for example. Most of them speak already a little french, because they come from ex french speaking countries.

sounds good to me...also, depending on who france deals with when it comes to exporting and importing, the persons would have to be bilingual to speak with them. france's primary language though, is still french, and the children there are taught french both at home and in school as it is their country's language. (many european countries do learn english as a second language)

France does have a large Eastern immigrant population. I would so run with that. Too bad that's what everyone else would do. Plus, it is in proximity to many other languages.

because english is the world currency. french is a beautiful and elegant language but a luxury in today's world. better to learn english and mandrian.

It's decreasing because everybody is using more and more english everyday.People don't understand how much of foreign language they know.
