what about smoking on set??
With the new smoking ban in work places what happens on set of a tv/film shoot where the character smokes, eg in the home or in a period piece where smoking in public places was accepted. Are they still allowed to as technically it is a place of work?

I've only been on a few filming sets and smoking is only allowed if the scene calls for it. I'm in radio and we used to be able to smoke in the booth during our shows, but no more! Now, we have to go out on the fire escape and that's not much fun in the winter time. I need to quit anyway.

When you see smoking in films they are usually sponsored by the cigarette company so if money is involved it will continue on film sets

I would imagine that smoking would be allowed on an outdoor set, even if it was a working environment, provided it was not enclosed.

My guess is that
(1) The definition of "workplace" is such that it excludes places such as movie sets; or
(2) Even if it doesn't, no government agency would enforce the rule in such a restrictive manner. (There may even be First Amendment issues if you're in the U.S.)
