Peace Corps?

I am a sophmore in college majoring in History and Russian. I am thinking about joining the Peace Corps after I graduate before heading to grad school. Since I will be fluent in Russian at the time, will they take that into consideration when they place me? Has anyone joined the Peace Corps? What are your impressions? I would like to know more about it from a personal perspective with personal experiences. Thanks so much in advance!

I think that the Peace Corps would be an excellent venture. Being fluent in a foreign language certainly helps and will definately have a bearing on where you end up. Of course, you need to look at their website to see the vacancies that they have available. A friend of mine recently joined and moved to Madagascar due to her expertise and the needs that they had. So, see what they are looking for in their vacancies section and try to gear your resume accordingly. You do get some say in where you go, but the more specialized you are the more likely you will go to a place you want.

Knowledge of another language is an advantage in joining the Peace Corps and you might be assigned in Russia.

They will probably take that into consideration.
